If so you might want to read this…

Just before Christmas we were approached to repair an engine on a Land Rover Discovery 3, the cambelt change was due on 105k miles but at 104k miles the cambelt tensioner bearings fell apart which made the cambelt loose its tension which then had the domino effect of jumping three teeth, bending 3 inlet valves and snapping the chain between the inlet and exhaust camshaft.

A fairly straight forward repair you would think but unfortunately with all the TDV6 Discoverys this means taking the body off the chassis, so before even starting the repair you’ll be looking at an estimated 7 hours labour.

So a warning to all you Discovery drivers don’t put off getting your cambelt changed, we recommend changing the cambelt the service before it’s due.
